1. Black Sand Beach, Hawaii
The most famous beach in the US state due to the exotic coloring of the sand is Punalu’u Beach, located on an island known as Big Island.Attractive among tourists, the black sand is a result of the erosion of volcanic rocks, natural in the region. The material is rich in iron, non-radioactive, dense and formed by basalt, which generates a different coloration.
2. The Pink Sand Beach, Bahamas
Located on Harbor Island in the Bahamas, the pink sand beach, is the main attraction in the area. Located along the eastern side of the Atlantic Ocean, its pale pink sand stretches for more than three miles and is 50 to 100 feet wide.
Due to the color of its sand and the incredible blue sea of the Caribbean, the beach was featured in the Travel Channel’s Best Beaches of the World segment in March 2005. Named Best Sand Beach, Harbor Island was one of the 10 beaches in the world to be included in this program.
The sand on this beach features millions of eroded particles from red corals which gives it an awesome pinkish glow.

The sand at Whitehaven Beach is among the whitest anywhere on the planet. Composed of 98 percent silica, the sand in Whitehaven does not retain heat and has a fine consistency like powder. This means that even in the hottest part of the day, visitors can walk comfortably along their seven miles of sand next to the crystal clear Coral Sea. A visit to Whitehaven Beach requires a boat trip or a short flight in a helicopter or seaplane .

Located in the Balasore district of Odisha, Chandipur beach is the most unique in the country due to its rare phenomenon where the sea retracts by up to 5 kilometers during low tide and returns to normal during high tide. Due to this phenomenon, the beach is also known as the ‘Hide-and-Seek’ beach.
As the sea recedes, visitors can literally walk up to 5 km on the seabed and catch a glimpse of the sea creatures, including red crabs, horseshoe crabs and small starfish that live far from the beach. There are Casuarinas tree around the area, which adds a certain appeal to the beach.

The truth is that these Exuma swimmers pigs are world famous and live in the Big Major Cay, also known as Island of Pigs and Pig Beach, a totally uninhabited island by humans, located about 132 km southeast of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, and 80 km northwest of George Town, capital of Exuma.
10. Glass Beach, Fort Bragg, California
One phrase that best sums up Glass Beach is “the beach that made the garbage a treasure”. Located in MacKerricher State Park, near the city of Fort Bragg (northern California), the exotic beach is formed by a carpet of multicolored glass stones that shine in the sunlight.
But, what are the origins of this beach formed by pieces of glass and that both enchants the tourists that visit it?
Well, the glass comes from the household rubbish that the locals simply threw off the cliffs that skirted the coast of the region in the early twentieth century. Everything was discarded at sea: garbage, bottles, appliances and even old cars! Something unthinkable for the present day, but at that time it was a common practice. The situation was so uncontrollable that fires were sometimes started to reduce the size of the abandoned waste pile on the site.
It was only in 1967 that the local authorities decided to put an end to the illegal practice: they closed the whole area and started a series of cleaning and environmental recovery programs. Over the years, the waves of the sea that hit the beach were breaking and eroded the abandoned glass and pottery into small, colorful and smooth pieces that blended with the sand of the beach and formed a true kaleidoscope of shapes and colors that have given this coast line the nickname Glass Beach. It’s nature solving a human error.
