If you are planning a trip to Disneyland and are unprepared then it can prove quite costly so here are 10 ways you can save money at Disneyland.
1. Don’t travel in the main tourist season
Plan your trip to Disneyland in the fall or winter, where the tourist count is smaller. Make sure, you don’t go in the time of holidays, school breaks, or any larger events. Plan carefully, before selecting a date to visit Disneyland. The prices for more or less everything should be lower because they depend on a smaller number of tourists. That also includes prices for hotels.
2. Try to eat your meals at the hotel or outside the park
Make sure you eat a proper meal if you can, before entering the park. If you arrive with a full belly, you will
be less likely, tempted to buy the expensive food and snacks inside the park.
3. Take snacks with you
Disneyland will allow you to bring some types of snacks into the park. But no glass is allowed and neither is ice. The best is to bring small sized snacks like fruits, bars, sandwiches, candy and plastic bottled water. As an exception to the rule, if you have a baby and you have to feed the baby milk, they allow baby glass bottles.
4. Drink plenty of water
One of the best ways, to save money at Disneyland, is to drink water. If you can, bring a reusable water bottle with you. Just make sure it’s plastic. You can either refill the bottle at water stations or make sure you bring enough with you. Don’t forget about this important part, because the climate is usually quite hot and you will want to stay hydrated.
5. If you can, skip the rental car or driving your car with you to the park
If you have the option, leave the car at the hotel parking lot and hire an uber or taxi. Parking spaces around Disneyland cost a lot of money and will most definitely make a hole in your wallet. Try to hire, other cheaper forms of transportation.
6. Set a budget beforehand, for snacks and souvenirs in the park
Plan and limit your budget for snacks and souvenirs that you are planning to buy in the park. That way, you will be less likely to spend more money than you intended.
7. If you are planning to dress like a Disney character, bring the costume with you
Disney dresses and accessories are very expensive in the park. If you are planning to take photos of youself, all dressed up like a princess or a prince, buy them before going to Disneyland. You will save a lot of money.
8. Find free but fun things to do, in and around the park
Sometimes the park hosts, special free events, like face painting and many others. Plan some time outside the park too, because there is definitely a lot to see.
9. Don`t buy big souvenirs
Bigger souvenirs like shirts and giant teddy bears can cost from $20 all the way up to $80. If you are buying souvenirs, stick to the small ones, like magnets, postcards, key-rings etc. Plus do you really want to carry all that around with you all day?
10. If you have a baby, make sure you bring your own stroller
Stroller renting costs $15 a day and a stroller for twins costs around $35 a day. You can save a lot of money, bringing your own stroller.
